Give before you’re ready.
These are the words that changed my perspective on giving. And brought so much unexpected joy into our lives.
I listened to a Glen Carlson’s Dent podcast with Steve Pipe and our decision to start giving consistently moved from ‘one day’ to today.
In the podcast Glen and Steve talked about the Pledge 1% .
This simple idea opened a door in my mind. We don’t have to wait to give every day in our business.
We can start now.
And through B1G1 we now give every day and it’s become a wonderful part of what we do every day.
Whenever anyone here in the UK joins our Rent 2 Rent Kickstarter or Superstars Programmes to change their life, we give to projects changing people’s lives in other parts of the world. And each time someone leaves a review for The Rent 2 Rent Success Podcast we give too. We’re supporting projects in Malawi and Zimbabwe helping women to start businesses and supporting children in Kenya to be able to go to school.
It’s a great feeling to know that as we work with people here to change their lives, their decision is having a positive impact on others too.
We believe we’re all here to leave our world better and each of us does this in different ways. We are hugely grateful to have found, later in life, a way to truly enhance and inspire other people’s lives through what we do each day at ‘work’.
It doesn’t feel like work.
It’s an honour to be able to live our purpose.
I know this may sound trite but after decades of living on autopilot, it’s not something we take for granted.
We realise how many talented people, bury their dreams and don’t live their full potential because of fear and doubt.

And starting with a 1% Pledge is a great way to start if you feel that you’re not quite ready for more yet. Start where you are, with what you have and do what you can.
