Who pays for washing machine repairs in rent to rent HMO?
This weeks Ask The Angels question is from Anna and she wants to get some advice on who is responsible for repairs in a rent to rent HMO.
Here’s Anna's question...
“I’m really worried. The washing machine has broken at the rent to rent HMO property I manage. The landlord says I should pay. And I wondered if this is right?"
First of all, it’s so important not to just jump into the middle without understanding what the agreement is.
If you’re thinking about starting in rent to rent make sure you understand the agreement up front as it makes everything so much easier for both parties.
The answer will depend on what is in the contract you have with the landlord.
You need to make sure you have the right contracts which will protect you and also give both you and the landlord clarity.
I'm going to talk more about how we arrange things and what’s in the contract we have with our landlords.
